ONE LAPTOP PER CHILD
One Laptop per Child is a non-profit initiative established with the goal of transforming education for children in low- income economies.
Working with the OLPC team in Australia to update their current interface and help developed a new app called 'animal tv' which helped children watch videos and learn about animals from around the world.
The Challenge
Working with teams from different time zones across the world, we used Goggle Hangouts on a weekly basis to discuss and talk about the project and what each team member would work on.
The Process
I was provided with an XO laptop which allowed me to play and navigate through menus and buttons, exploring the types of challenges users would experience when using the product.
I designed a series of recommendations to improve the current designs and layouts, including creating new icons, colours, sound and movement.
The entire interface was based on a grid based system allowing the developer to easily program the applications.
The Result
An updated interface with new features, and improvements on existing apps, features and experiences that children from all around the world could benefit from.
